Located in Muruta Commune in the Kayanza Province, Burundi Kayanza Remera is produced at the Umuco Washing Station in partnership with Migoti Coffee.
Over 1700 coffee farmers deliver cherries to the Umuco Station. This natural coffee is produced by drying high-quality cherriers on raised beds until the cherries reach 11-12% moisture. Each lot is cupped to ensure quality, before being milled and sent to the Dar es Salaam port ready for export.

Although coffee is a primary crop in Burundi, many farmers have become demotivated with the price they have received for their cherries because it has not kept pace with inflation. The vision of the Umuco Washing Station and its owners is to help farmers achieve higher productivity from their coffee trees, plant more trees, and receive better compensation for the cherries delivered to the washing station.
